Gettysburg Battlefield Tour - The 1st Minnesota

  • Gettysburg Battlefield 1195 Baltimore Pike Gettysburg, PA, 17325 United States (map)

History

You're invited to join the Minnesota State Society on a tour of the Gettysburg Battlefield. We will focus on the actions of the 1st Minnesota Infantry Regiment, who played a pivotal role in the battle.

The 1st Minnesota was the very first group of volunteers the Union received in response to the South's assault of Fort Sumter at the beginning of the Civil War. The men of the 1st Minnesota fought in many battles, including the First Bull Run and Antietam; but it was at the Battle of Gettysburg where the regiment's most famous actions occurred on the second day of the battle.

The Tour

We will join a licensed battlefield guide who will give our group a unique 2-hour tour designed specifically for us, focusing on the fighting that occurred on the east side of the battlefield. We will also visit the cemetery where there is a monument to the 1st Minnesota.

The tour will begin at the National Park's visitor center, where we will meet the guide and travel to the tour locations in our personal vehicles. Due to wanting to limit the number of vehicles in our group, we ask that members carpool if possible. The entire tour will be conducted outdoors.

After the tour, we will have an option for lunch at a local restaurant for those that wish to participate.

Tickets

The tour is free for paid members and $5 for non-members. Pre-registration is required. Select the type and number of tickets from the box below to obtain tickets. You must log in to receive free member tickets.
